How it all started
Customs of Sweden was formed by Per Greamer in 1989, supported by a handful of custom enthusiasts. During the first year the club, then named Custom Kemps of Sweden, got about 20 members, many of them die-hard custom guys that still do belong to the club.

To get things working and to strength the unity a club-magazine, Lead News, was started in 1990. The magazine was, and still are, influed by the early pocket magazines. The club did also start a newsletter, Lead Letter, to inform about the latest news in the custom scene.
1990 in Västerås, the same weekend as Power Meet was held; CKOS held its first spontaneous meet at a big parking lot called Hällamotet. About 15 cars did appear, but only a few of them were customs…

This meeting became a tradition, and some years later a drastic difference could be noticed. The number of customs at Hällamotet was close to 100 and several of them were built in a way that could compete with the best ones in the world.

When CKOS was formed the purpose was to keep those who like customs together and to work both for the preservation of traditions within custom building and for the creation of new designs within traditional custombuilding of American cars. From the mid 30's Westergard styled customs to the mid 60's sculptured customs by Alexander Brothers. We have no strict limits but that is the kind of cars that CKOS focus on.

After ten years of existence the first more organized meeting, Lead Nats, was held in Hallstahammar. It was a great success and members got to meet each other for several days. CKOS used the same meeting aera the following year, 2001 meet was held in Sundsvall, and in 2002 it was held in Älvkarleby.

2003 CKOS was presented at Pre-Summer meet in Köping May 10 and at All Customs meet at Tramps mc in Västerås May 17. We also had our regular custom cars parking in Västerås July 5, at Tramps in Jädra Hubbo, as well as our Lead Crusin i Stockholm.

Today CKOS have about 200 members and even if it's a Swedish club we do have members in several other countries. The membership fee for 2004 is SKR 250:- , to be paid by Swedish postal giro 480 58 77 - 0.
